The Goal of the OIC Money system is to change the stories we believe in. Change our consciousness and ultimately get rid of money while moving towards a resource based economy.
Standing on the shoulders of giants. like Jem Bendell, Researchers at Positetive Money, Dr Johan Joubert, Jacque Fresco, Joseph Stiglitz, David Suzuki, Charles Eisenstein, Chris Agnos, Richard Werner, Martin Wolf and the Bank of England to name just a few. The main thing is, when looking at money, and the creation thereof, the details matter. When explanations are short, details will inevitably get lost. Just know that it has taken years of research to understand money.
Here are some of the stories money have taught us.
- Money is scarce and we have to fight for our share because there is never enough.
- By creating money from debt, the privileged become more privileged.
- When creating money from debt, somone is selling their future time or energy to repay the debt. It is a type of bondage or enslavement.
- Because money is created in debt for the future, it loses connection with the present moment. This has an impact on how we allocate value. For example a whale in the ocean is worth nothing, but we can get a loan to buy a ship to take the whale out of the ocean, kill it and then make stuff, to sell from the whale. This way we have a plan to repay the debt.
- Having Money gives us ownership over what we pay for.
- Money gives us power!
- Money disconnects us from each other, ourselves and from nature.
- You have to do what you have to do to earn money even if it goes against your nature.
- Money divides us into have and have nots.
- By the way money gets created, in this system, younger generations are disadvantaged.
- Because money is obtained from an outside source and used up, we are kept in constant fear.
- Because most of the items we create debt for are destructive to the planet, the very act of creating money from debt is destructive.
- Because money is created from debt there is interest. Interest means that we have to repay more than we created.
Seeing our planet die should touch us all. Grief is part of the process. Understanding is part of the healing. Understanding what makes humans different. With our abilities to tell stories. Then building tools to make these stories real. Tools like countries, legal systems and money systems. All of those stories have to change. Then we also need to change the tools that drive those stories. As a species, we are amazing and powerful. It is time we stop giving our power away by understanding how we got here. Then drop the blame. Then start healing this planet by healing ourselves first. The time is coming, to tell a new story, with new tools. This is how OIC was born.
